Curaçao, a charming destination in the Caribbean, is a vibrant mix of culture, paradise beaches, and a fascinating historical heritage that attracts travelers from all over the world. The island’s main attractions are spread between its crystal-clear beaches and the colorful downtown of Willemstad, the island’s capital.

When planning a trip, one common question arises: where to stay in Curaçao?

Beach Resorts

Along Curaçao’s coastline, you’ll find a variety of resorts offering a true beachfront luxury experience. These are perfect for those who want to wake up to the sound of the waves and have direct access to water activities such as snorkeling and diving.

Vacation Rentals

For travelers seeking a more personalized stay, renting a house or apartment can be the perfect option. Many of these properties feature stunning ocean views, private pools, and the cozy feeling of a “home away from home.”

Boutique Hotels in Willemstad

Willemstad, Curaçao’s capital, is famous for its colorful buildings and rich historical heritage. If you enjoy immersing yourself in local culture and having easy access to restaurants, bars, and shops, there are plenty of boutique hotels near the city center.

Why did we choose to stay near downtown?

Accessibility to Attractions:

Most tourist attractions, museums, and historic buildings are located in Willemstad. By staying downtown, you’ll have the convenience of exploring everything on foot or with short rides on local transport.

Nightlife and Gastronomy:

The city center is the heart of Curaçao’s nightlife, filled with bars and restaurants that showcase the island’s vibrant culture. It’s where you can taste authentic local cuisine and enjoy live music.

Authenticity:

By staying in the center, you have the chance to truly immerse yourself in local life, exploring markets, joining festivals, and mingling with the city’s residents.

Savings:

Avoiding long and frequent trips to downtown can mean significant savings of both time and money. Another advantage of staying in the city center is the better access to grocery stores, since many beaches lack infrastructure and you’ll often need to bring your own food and drinks.

During our visit to Curaçao, we chose to stay in the heart of Willemstad to enjoy all these advantages, and our pick was Hotel Saint Tropez — and we loved it! Besides the privileged location, the hotel provided a relaxing atmosphere and excellent services.

After a beach day, coming back to the hotel to watch the sunset with a cocktail by the pool was unforgettable. At night, we walked to dinner or grabbed an Uber when we felt more tired.

Most hotels on the island don’t have private parking, but it’s usually possible to park on the street right in front of the hotel.

Whatever your choice when visiting Curaçao, staying near downtown is definitely a great option if you want to make the most of your experience and enjoy both the island’s beaches and restaurants.
